Yes, whilst you won’t need it for accident or illness cover – Thanks, NHS! – you may want to protect yourselves against cancellation, delays, theft, etc.
It’ll be very cheap and, hey, it’s worth it for the peace of mind.
Do I need travel insurance for a European stag do?
You definitely should get travel insurance for a European stag weekend.
Essentially, if you don’t have the right travel insurance, it can cost you. BIG TIME.
According to the latest Gov. statistics, you could run up a bill in the tens of thousands if you fell ill or got an injury and didn’t have the appropriate cover.
REMEMBER: When you take out a policy, check what is and isn’t covered.
Pre-COVID, more than 50% of stags had the groom’s big weekend outside the UK. Don’t be one of the groups who end up stag creek without a paddle because they didn’t think they needed any cover.
Can we get group travel insurance?
Yes, you can insure a group of up to 10 with ease and it can work out a lot cheaper than everyone insuring themselves individually. You can also insure more than 10, but this will vary from company to company.

Again, we’d strongly advise you to read what you’re covered for with the company you’re taking the policy out with, but look for policies that have medical cover for about £2 million (per person).

What (usually) isn’t covered?
The things you want to look out for as a stag group taking out travel insurance are:
- Alcohol Policy – Many insurance policies won’t cover you for events that occur after excessive alcohol consumption
- Extreme Sports/Activities – Quad biking, jet skiing, bungee jumping, etc., aren’t usually covered as standard
