Just because our offices are right in the centre of Bath it doesn't make us biased - we think we can all agree that a Bath stag weekend is one of the best in the UK.

With great pubs, great activities, and great sights to see, Bath is pretty much the complete stag city.

Ok, it's a bit smaller than some of its counterparts, but what it lacks in size it certainly makes up for in quality.

Find out everything you need to know below and get ready for a next-level celebration.

StagWeb's Bath Destination Specialist

Bath destination specialist

Meet Jamie, our Bath Destination Specialist.

Jamie has been sending stags to Bath since 2007 and lives locally, so his knowledge of stag weekends here is unrivalled.

Give him a call on 01225 474200 (Mon-Fri 08:30 - 17:30) and pick his brains on what to do, where to stay - whatever you need to know.

Jamie's Top Tip for Bath

"As popular as Bath is with stags, it's even more popular with hens who are traditionally more organised."

"So, you need to get in early to make sure you don't miss out on accommodation - particularly self-catering properties."

🍺 Jamie's Night Out Top Tip

"Head to George Street for bars with a dance floor."

Is Bath Right for Your Group?

Before you book, you need to make sure Bath is right for your group.

To be honest, though, unless you want to head abroad or go to the coast, Bath ticks all the boxes.

  • Great nights out? Got it.
  • Adrenaline-pumping adventures? Got it.
  • Chilled activities? Got it.
  • Refined restaurants? Got it.
  • Pub grub? Got it.
  • Anything and everything? Got it.

And yes, Bath is slightly more refined than some of its big-city counterparts, but don't be fooled into thinking that means it doesn't know how to party.

This place pops off... and then some!

Kingsmead Square and the roads in and around it have a lot to offer. We're talking pubs, exclusive bars, and a load of places to grab a bite to eat. Look out for Bath Brew House, Flan O'Briens, The Grapes, The Dark Horse, The King of Wessex, Fidel Rum Bar and a whole lot more.

Top 10 Bath Pubs, Bars & Clubs

Where: 22-23 Westgate St, BA1 1EP

The Salamander

A cracking pub with a range of local ales. It's not the biggest pub in the world, so maybe swerve it if you're a massive group, but if there are 8-10 of you, it's a good place to stop for a pint or three.

Where: 3 John St, BA1 2JL

Zero Zero

One of Bath's busiest nightclubs, Zero Zero boasts three rooms, three bars, two DJs and a load of drinks deals to entice you in.

Belushi's

With loads of live sports, plus a cracking little menu, this is a great place to refuel and recharge before a big night on the town.

Where: 9 Green St, BA1 2JY

Revolution

A bouncing chain bar where the party never stops, Revs is always busy and always buzzing. This place lacks pretension and is a guaranteed good night out.

The Best Time to Go

For 2023, almost two-thirds (62%) of the stag groups heading to Bath with StagWeb went in June and July.

Why June and July?

Well, traditionally, wedding season kicks off in late July and early August, so this will give you and the guys a solid buffer between the stag and the wedding.

Bath is also home to two universities (Bath University and Bath Spa University), so by the time June rolls around, most of the students have gone home for the summer, meaning the nights out are a slightly older crowd.

How Long Do People Go For?

66% of the guys heading to Bath in 2023 with StagWeb went there for 2 nights (3 days), which we would say is the ideal amount of time.

No need to take too much time off work, no need to overextend the weekend, it gives you plenty of time to explore the sights, take on some cracking activities, and have a couple of nights frequenting the best pubs and bars in the city.

How Soon Do People Book?

On average, our stags booked nearly 5 months in advance which is a month longer than the average, according to our end-of-year stats.

But why are stags heading to Bath so organised?

Well...

  1. It's a compact city with a limited amount of accommodation
  2. It's the No.1 hen party destination in the UK, so things book up fast
  3. If you book early, you're more likely to get better prices, better time slots, better deals, etc.

That's why stags have to be organised.

Where to Stay in Bath

Bath has a load of central hotels that put you right in the heart of the action.

We're talking minutes from Bath Spa Station, a load of secure car parks, and the best pubs and food joints about.

There's also a range of houses available to book - some central, some slightly further out - that get you more space and more facilities.

You could even book a place that's halfway between Bath and Bristol and enjoy the best of both worlds on the groom's weekend away.

Check out our latest and greatest Bath stag accommodation options and get it booked before someone else beats you to it.

Common Bath Stag Do FAQs

Is Bath good for a stag do?

Bath is a top choice for a stag do and a great alternative to some of its big-city rivals. Boasting a top-flight rugby club, its own racecourse, plus a load of fantastic pubs, bars and restaurants, it's ideal for lads who are looking for a legendary weekend away.

When is the best time to visit Bath?

The summer months are a good time if you want to avoid the student crowds (Bath is home to not one, but two universities). However, because you don't need to rely on the weather to have a good time here, Bath is a great shout any time of year.

Is Bath good for clubbing?

Bath is surprisingly good for clubbing. All of its nightclubs are located underground to avoid any noise pollution (which means they can be twice as loud), and there will be club nights for any type of music you can think of. OK... probably not Country, but we'd imagine clubbing wouldn't be your vibe anyway.

Is Bath popular for stags?

Traditionally a hen party hotspot, Bath is rising the ranks for stag send-offs, and we'd slap a lot of money on it becoming one of the most popular destinations in the UK in the next few years.

What are the best nightlife spots for a Bath stag do?

Bath is a compact city, so bouncing between the best nightlife area is easy. George Street at the top of town is the party street with a mix of chain bars, independent venues, nightclubs and restaurants. In and around Kingsmead Square is also good with many pubs (Bath Brew House, Wetherspoons, Plan O'Briens, The Grapes and more) plus a cracking club, Komedia, which is great for mixed crowds on Saturday nights.

What are the best bars in Bath for a stag do?

Bath has loads of great bars and pubs for stags to visit. Ludo Sports Bar is right next to Bath Spa Train Station for anyone who wants a refreshing pint on arrival. The Cork is also a popular venue with space inside and out, whilst there are a range of chain bars like Be At One, Slug and Lettuce and All Bar One also on offer.

What is the best time of year for a stag party in Bath?

Two-thirds of stags heading to Bath with us go between June and July. This is a great time to go because the weather is *usually* good, both Bath University and Bath Spa University will have broken up for the summer (meaning older crowds in the clubs), and the city really comes alive this time of year. However, the brilliance of Bath is you could visit anytime and have a blast.

What are the best Bath stag activities on offer?

All your stag classics are available and they are all top class. We're talking clay shooting, go karting, bubble football, quad biking, plus you have 70 more Bath stag do ideas to choose from.

What are some unique Bath stag do ideas?

The beauty of having 70+ Bath stag activities to choose from is you can definitely do something different. If you've booked one of our Bath stag do houses, mobile craft beer tasting is a great addition. And if you're looking for something a little more chaotic, we'd recommend the hilarious Somerset Challenge where you'll come face-to-face with nine hilarious challenges.

What accommodation options are best for a Bath stag do?

Whilst Bath has some cracking central hotels, its range of stag houses is where it stands out from the crowd. From city centre properties to ones halfway between Bath and Bristol (so you can enjoy the best of both worlds), we have an extensive selection on offer. Check out our range of Bath stag accommodation today and find the property that works for you.

How long should a stag weekend in Bath be?

66% of stags heading to Bath went for two nights. Bath isn't the biggest city in the world, so this is probably the perfect amount of time to see the sights, take on some activities and try some of the many incredible boozers on offer.

How much does a stag weekend in Bath cost?

Guys heading for their stag weekends in Bath are spending around the £260 mark for their activities, accommodation and nights out. With fewer hotels and houses, availability is in high demand, so be sure to get in early to avoid missing out.

Are there any Bath stag do packages available?

Absolutely! With StagWeb, you have the option of building your own weekend or booking one of our readymade Bath stag do packages. These are all based on our most popular combinations booked by like-minded stags like yourselves.

What are the must-visit attractions during a Bath stag weekend?

Bath has plenty of sights to see and activities to take on. Rugby fans should take in a game at the rec. Those who want to take in the tourist spots should check out the Royal Crescent (great for a squad selfie). There's also The Circus, the Roman Baths, Pulteney Bridge and a whole lot more to see.
